The Korean Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery society was established with the purpose of contributing to the development of ophthalmology and promoting friendship and information exchange among members through research and education on cataract and refractive surgery. It has been able to establish itself as a representative conference in the related academic field in which it participates.

The Korean Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery has held an academic symposium once a year since 1998, contributing to the spread of cataract surgery and refractive surgery and academic research. 5th International Meeting on Advanced Cataract and Refractive Surgery) was held to provide a forum for international exchange in the field of cataract and refractive surgery, and 300 people from 11 countries attended. The symposium held at Asan Medical Center in Seoul in 2006 was attended by 32 speakers, 210 specialists, and 114 specialists to discuss the latest knowledge in the field of cataract refractive surgery. In addition, phacoemulsification workshops are held once or twice a year to deliver surgical techniques to surgeons who are starting cataract surgery for the first time.
