Foundation for the Oncological Research Institute / Fondazione per l'Istituto oncologico di ricerca (IOR)

The Foundation was born on 11.1.1999 as a Foundation for the Research and Treatment of Lymphomas in Ticino, mainly because the management of the International Conference on Malignant Lymphomas in Lugano (ICML), which had grown enormously since 1981, needed a legal and administrative form.

Gradually, the Foundation then entered the Ticino panorama of oncological research by financing targeted projects, above all in the sector of malignant lymphomas. In particular, it played an important role in financially assisting the development of the IELSG (International Extranodal Lymphoma Study Group) and also in supporting the IOSI database (Istituto Oncologico della Svizzera italiana), a fundamental tool for identifying clinical research topics.
