The Italian Society of Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy was established in 1935 and developed over the next sixty years with the aim of promoting research in the gastroenterological field, supporting and expanding the training of physicians and researchers in the field of digestive diseases and raising awareness public opinion on their importance.
SIGE is a member of the main international organizations of Gastroenterology: OMGE, ASNEMGE, UEMS, UEGF, IDCA, to which it contributes with its delegates. Furthermore, SIGE is registered with the Federation of Italian Medical and Scientific Societies - FISM. Approximately 1,300 doctors are enrolled at the SIGE, including hospital, university and professionals.
The Company's institutional activities are announced on the website and through the annual circular and newsletter. The research activity carried out by the Members is published in the main international journals of the sector, including the official journal of the Digestive and Liver Disease Society.
SIGE has adapted to the ISO 9001-2015 Quality System (RN: IT - 112057) and is a Standard Provider no. 1227
