The Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College was started on 30th November 1964 with the first batch of 60 students. The annual intake of MBBS students increased to 100 in the year 1990, and we are happy to state that MCI has permitted the intake capacity to be increased to 150 seats from 2016. They are proud to conduct broad specialty and 8 super specialty courses with a total of 213 post graduate and 29 Super Specialty seats annually. Besides this we have a Nursing course with an intake capacity of 100 seats, Physio Therapy (10 UG and 10 PG seats) & Occupational Therapy with (10 UG and 10 PG seats), 20 seats for B Sc Para Medical Technology course and 10 seats for the PG DMLT course.
The Institute, being centrally located is accessible from both the major Express Highways in the city, thus making it the first major referral center for patients from out of the city. It is well connected to the suburban population of Mumbai. Dharavi, the second largest slum habitation in Asia is in close proximity to the hospital and majority of the poverty struck population residing there is benefitted by the services provided at LTMGH. Besides this it is in close proximity to the central, harbor and western railway lines.
