As a result of a malpractice crisis that existed in Mississippi, members of the Mississippi State Medical Association joined together in 1976 to establish Medical Assurance Company of Mississippi. During these difficult times in the medical profession, many physicians could not purchase malpractice insurance for any price and chose to join together to create their own professional liability company to serve and support their needs.

MACM's purpose remains the same today as it was when the company was founded... to provide quality, affordable coverage to physicians living and practicing in the state of Mississippi. Medical Assurance Company was established by Mississippians to protect and serve only Mississippi physicians.

Medical Assurance Company of Mississippi is an organization of physicians dedicated to providing sound, stable insurance products and quality related services to physicians and other health care providers practicing in the state of Mississippi.
