Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland (SCTS)

SCTS continues to be an innovative, forward thinking organisation, addressing the interests of patients, cardiothoracic surgeons and the Nursing and other Allied Health Professionals involved with Cardiac Surgery, Thoracic Surgery or Congenital heart and lung surgery.

An inclusive professional society for all healthcare professionals involved and interested in cardiothoracic surgery.

The aims of the SCTS are:
• To continuously improve the quality of healthcare that Their specialty delivers to patients in an open and accountable manner
• To ensure that They influence the direction of education and development of surgeons-in-training and related health care professionals
• Ensure that regulation when required is fit for purpose
• To meet the professional demands of Their members as regards information and guidance surrounding the practice of cardiothoracic surgery
• Support education and professional development through Society scholarships and bursaries.
• Represent Great Britain & Ireland in cardiothoracic surgery at a national and international level to foster exchange of concepts and ideas which may enhance practice.
