The College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has held a unique, vital role in Arkansas for more than 130 years. As the states only medical school, we train the majority of Arkansas physicians. Our outstanding faculty members are on staff at UAMS Medical Center, Arkansas Childrens Hospital, the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System, UAMS regional centers and numerous other clinics and facilities providing services throughout the state of Arkansas and for patients from around the world.
Many of their basic sciences faculty members also hold appointments in the UAMS Graduate School, teaching tomorrows scientists. And with a vibrant, world-class research enterprise that emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration, the College of Medicines researchers and clinicians serve on the forefront of medical advances.
UAMS Mission Statement
The mission of UAMS is to improve the health, health care and well-being of Arkansans and of others in the region, nation and world by educating current and future health professionals and the public; providing high quality, innovative, patient- and family-centered health care; providing specialty expertise not routinely available in community settings; advancing knowledge in areas of human health and disease; and translating and accelerating discoveries into health improvements.
