Dr. Jay Burns is nationally recognized as a prestigious board-certified Dallas Plastic Surgeon that has engaged in clinical practice and industry research for more than 20 years. He is the founder of the Vascular Anomalies and Birthmark Clinic at Children’s Medical Center, and he also serves as the Medical Director of EpiCentre Park Lane and Legacy. All of his hard work has earned him public recognition, and many awards throughout the years.
He remains active in R&D, publishing cutting-edge articles, and bringing many new technologies to market. Dr. Burns currently serves as a reviewer of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal. Since 1992, Dr. Burns has served as a member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, as well as the governing board, and other varied positions leading to his presidency of the society from 2006 – 2007.
Dr. Burns was born and raised in Garland, TX. He graduated from Baylor University magna cum laude and was honored as Outstanding Junior Alumni of Baylor University in 1994. Dr. Burns graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honorary academic society. He completed an internship and residency in General Surgery at the University of Utah Affiliated Hospitals in Salt Lake City, UT, followed by a residency in Plastic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He then went on to complete specialty training in vascular anomalies and birthmarks at Harvard Affiliated Hospitals.
