Ahvie Herskowtiz BA, MD

Ahvie Herskowitz, M.D., is Medical Director of the San Francisco Stem Cell Treatment Center, a subsidiary of Anatara Medicine. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Anatomic Pathology. He graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and for nine years following medical school, trained in Anatomic Pathology and Immunology, Internal Medicine and Cardiology. He studied Cardiovascular Medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital where, after training, he was jointly appointed for nine years as an Assistant and then Associate Professor of Medicine, and Immunology and Molecular Microbiology.
At Hopkins, Dr. Herskowitz led an immunology and cardiology research team investigating mechanisms of vascular and cardiac injury and repair, heart transplantation, heart function and metabolism, and basic mechanisms of autoimmunity. He then relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area to become Director of a cardiovascular research institute, and was appointed Clinical Professor of Medicine at UC San Francisco.
