Dr. Aida Taye received her Bachelor of Arts as well as her medical degree from George Washington University’s combined BA/MD Early Selection Scholar program. Dr. Taye graduated magna cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Taye then completed her residency in general surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center, where she was appointed Academic Surgical Chief Resident. During her time at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, she also held the position of General Surgery resident representative of the Graduate Medical Education Committee.

Following her residency, Dr. Taye completed a one-year fellowship in endocrine and metabolic surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, under the direction of William B. Inabnet III, MD, Chairman, Department of Surgery at Mount Sinai Beth Israel and Randall Owen, MD, MS, Director of Head and Neck Endocrine Surgery, at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Taye’s current research interests include efficient and cost-effective localization of parathyroid adenomas, molecular characterizations of intermediate thyroid nodules, and secondary hyperparathyroidism after gastric bypass surgery.

She has been published in a peer-reviewed journal regarding her work in endocrine disorders, and she has also presented her work at conferences across the country. Her clinical interests include the treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands. Dr. Taye is also interested in general surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and bariatric surgery. She is passionate about sustainable global surgery and has had prior work experience in Ecuador, Sudan, Ethiopia, and India.
