Alan J Kivitz, MD, CPI, is the Founder and Medical Director of the Altoona Center for Clinical Research and Altoona Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center in Duncansville, Pennsylvania. He received his medical degree from Albany Medical College and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. He then completed his fellowship in rheumatology at Albany Medical College. His research has focused on the development of newer strategies for treating patients with arthritis and rheumatic disorders. Dr. Kivitz has authored or coauthored more than 400 peer-reviewed articles in several journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Pain Medicine, the Journal of the American Medical Association, Arthritis & Rheumatology, and the Journal of Clinical Rheumatology. He has served as Principal Investigator or Sub Investigator in more than 1,000 clinical trials. Dr. Kivitz is a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and American Medical Association. He holds certifications in Human Subjects Protection, and HIPAA Research Training, and is a Certified Principal Investigator by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals.
