Alan Stolier, MD recently joined the world-renowned team of doctors, Frank DellaCroce, MD, FACS, Scott Sullivan, MD, FACS and Christopher Trahan, MD, FACS, at St. Charles Surgical Hospital. Board certified in surgery, Dr. Stolier has over 35 years experience in surgical oncology. He specializes in breast cancer surgeries, and has pioneered the development of the nipple-sparing mastectomy.
Previously, Dr. Stolier joined Drs. DellaCroce and Sullivan as the first medical director of the Breast Center at Memorial Hospital in New Orleans in 1993. In March 2000, he was the first medical director of the Lieselotte Tansey Breast Center at the Ochsner Clinic and Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans.
Dr. Stolier received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine. Following a Straight Surgery Internship at the University of Virginia Hospital, Dr. Stolier returned to New Orleans to begin his Residency in General Surgery at Charity Hospital of Louisiana. He then completed Fellowships in Surgical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Institute and Hammersmith Hospital in London, England before again returning to complete the Charity Hospital Residency Program. Dr. Stolier is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of numerous societies including the American Society of Breast Disease and the American Society of Breast Surgeons. Dr. Stolier has a particular interest in breast cancer genetics and nipple-sparing mastectomy in conjunction with immediate perforator flap breast reconstruction.
