Alexandre Nikolaev, PhD, is a Docent at the University of Helsinki. He received his Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Eastern Finland. As a Research Associate in the School of Languages and Cultures, he has experience conducting research in the area of language processing in children and adults, as well as in the area of language decline in people with dementia. In his doctoral thesis (2011), he studied the morphology of the Finnish language and then morphological decline in people with Alzheimer’s disease or mild cognitive impairment. His research interests include Clinical Research, Cognitive Linguistics, Corpus Linguistics, Speech and Language Processing, Applied Linguistics, Neurodegenerative Diseases, Morphology, Psycholinguistics, and Aphasia.
