Dr. Ali Ezzati is a board-certified neurologist and the Director of the Neuroinformatics Program at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). He obtained his medical degree from Shahid Beheshti University in Iran and went on to complete two post-doctoral research fellowships at Massachusetts General Hospital and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Following this, he completed his internship and neurology residency at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and subsequently spent five years as faculty at Einstein before joining UCI.

With expertise in neuroinformatics and data science, Dr. Ezzati has extensive clinical and research experience in cognitive neurology, Alzheimer’s disease, and related dementias. He has made significant contributions to Alzheimer’s disease research in various capacities, including as a postdoctoral fellow, resident, faculty member, and investigator. His expertise encompasses the design and execution of clinical-epidemiologic studies, as well as the utilization of big biomedical data, including neuropsychological data, neuroimaging, genomics, and digital and biological biomarkers in the field of Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr. Ezzati’s notable contributions focus on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning modeling, particularly in the neuroepidemiology of aging and dementia. He has explored the interplay between cognition, Alzheimer’s biomarkers (such as biofluid and neuroimaging markers), and Alzheimer’s risk factors (such as vascular disease, neuropsychiatric comorbidities, and psychosocial factors).

His research receives support from esteemed organizations such as the National Institute of Health, Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, Alzheimer’s Association, and investigator-initiated studies from the industry.
