Dr. Allen S. Anderson is a cardiologist and the Medical Director of the Center for Heart Failure at Northwestern’s Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute overseeing the areas of advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation and mechanical circulatory support. He is a Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. His research interests include the non-invasive assessment of heart failure and cardiac transplant patients, multi-organ transplantation, and the use of mechanical circulatory support in advanced heart failure.
Dr. Anderson was the founding Medical Director of Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation at the University of Chicago, leading that program for 15 years. His research interests include the non-invasive assessment of heart failure and cardiac transplant patients, multi-organ transplantation, and the use of mechanical circulatory support in advanced heart failure. Dr. Anderson, a Georgia native, received a BS in Chemistry, summa cum laude from Mercer University and an MD from Emory University. He completed internal medicine training at New York University and Bellevue Hospitals where he also served as the senior chief medical resident. He was a cardiology fellow at the University of Chicago, where he received the Resnekov Award for excellence in clinical cardiology.
