Andreas H. Gomoll MD

Dr. Andreas Gomoll is double board-certified in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. He is an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the International Cartilage Repair Society.

His practice is devoted to the reconstruction of knee injuries, such as ACL tears, meniscus, and cartilage defects. He is widely considered one of the leading surgeons specializing in the biologic repair of cartilage defects, joint preservation, and treatments for early arthritis of the knee joint, such as ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, and cartilage and meniscus transplantation. Knee replacement surgery should be the last resort, and his philosophy is to delay joint replacement surgery through biological interventions, and when this is not possible, employ the least invasive techniques to perform robotic-assisted partial knee replacements.

He has been awarded several Best Doctors designations, is a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, a recipient of the Who is Who Humanitarian Award, and was recognized as one of 16 stand-out sports knee surgeons in North America.

Dr. Gomoll was a member of the Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School Cartilage Repair Center, and Director of the Orthopaedic Program in the BWH Center for Regenerative Medicine prior to moving his practice to Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
