Andrew F. Ippoliti

Andrew F. Ippoliti, MD is Director of Administration and Clinical Affairs in the Division of Digestive Diseases at Cedars-Sinai and a member of the F. Widjaja Foundation Inflammatory Bowel and Immunobiology Research Institute. Dr. Ippoliti previously served in private practice and as a clinical professor for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Board certified in internal medicine with special certification in gastroenterology, Dr. Ippoliti has focused his research interests on the causes, effects and treatment of esophageal disorders, including Barrett's esophagus, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and peptic ulcers. In addition, he was the chief of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at UCLA.
Dr. Ippoliti has published his clinical and research findings in such peer-reviewed journals as American Journal of Medicine, American Journal of Gastroenterology, Digestive Diseases and Sciences, Gastroenterology, Gut and the Clinical Journal of Gastroenterology. He has authored or coauthored chapters for several books, including Consultations in Gastroenterology, Gastrointestinal and Hepatic Complications in Pregnancy, Handbook of Gastrointestinal Emergencies, Peptic Ulcer - A Guide to the Practicing Physician, and Principles and Practices of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Dr. Ippoliti is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine, American Federation of Clinical Research and the American Gastroenterological Association, and he is on the board of directors of the Los Angeles chapter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.
Dr. Ippoliti earned his bachelor's degree from Notre Dame University and his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed an internship and residency at District of Columbia General Hospital and a residency at Georgetown University Hospital. Dr. Ippoliti also completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Wadsworth Veterans Administration Hospital in Los Angeles, where he later served as a research associate.
