Degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Santiago de Compostela (1976), a specialist in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology (1982), and an Honorary Doctorate from the European University.

He is the Clinical Head of the Medical Oncology Service at the Hospital de la Santa Creu I Sant Pau and has an extensive professional, clinical, and research career. Its care activity has mainly focused in recent years on patients affected by sarcomas. He was a founding member of the Spanish Sarcomas Research Group (GEIS), President of the same for several years, and continues to be part of its Board of Directors.

He has led and participated in numerous studies and clinical trials, many of them in the field of GEIS, at national and international levels. He has an extensive scientific output in the form of articles, book chapters, lectures, and courses taught. He is also currently President of the Clinical Research Ethics Committee of the Hospital de la Santa Creu I Sant Pau.
