Dr. Asim Rana earned a medical degree from Ahmadu Bello University (Nigeria) followed by a Fellowship in Pediatrics from Pakistan in 1999. He was also awarded the prestigious Bill Marshall Fellowship in Pediatric infectious diseases from the Institute of Child Health, London in 1998. During his pediatric training in Pakistan, he developed a keen interest in the care of children with cancers, a neglected specialty at that time, and has dedicated his life to it since then.

In 2003 Dr. Asim moved to the United Kingdom to gain more experience and training in the field of pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplantation. He trained under world-renowned pediatric oncologists and transplanter’s in University College London Hospital (UCLH), Bristol Royal Children’s hospital and Christie hospital, Manchester gaining valuable experience over the next nine years. In 2012 Dr. Asim moved to Dubai as a pediatric oncologist to support a growing pediatric oncology unit, which currently receives 50 new childhood cancers every year not only from Dubai and the Northern Emirates but also from other countries. Dr. Asim has over 15 publications/papers in journals international pediatric oncology conferences. His current area of interest is in establishing pediatric palliative care services in Dubai.
