Awadhesh Kumar Singh MBBS, DM, MD

Dr. Awadhesh Kumar Singh is a Senior Consultant Endocrinologist at G.D Hospital & Diabetes Institute, Kolkata. Initially trained as a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Science (M.B.B.S) at Calcutta National Medical College, the University of Kolkata in 1995, he subsequently completed his M.D in Internal Medicine from N.R.S Medical College (erstwhile named Campbell School of Medicine), arguably the largest medical college and hospital in Asia, in the year 2000. Following their MD, he pursued his Doctorate in Medicine (D.M) in the super specialty of Diabetes & Endocrinology from India’s Premier Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (I.P.G.M.E.R), Kolkata, and was conferred as the youngest endocrinologist in India in the year 2004. He is a National Lifetime Board Member of the Research Society of Diabetes in India (R.S.S.D.I) and the Endocrine Society of India (E.S.I). He is serving as an Adaptation Editor of the Williams Text Book of Endocrinology, South Asian Edition, 2020. He has also contributed a chapter on “Diabetes in South Asia” in the Williams Textbook of Endocrinology, South Asian Edition, 2020. He is currently serving as an Associate Editor of Springer Nature, International Journal of Diabetes in Developing Countries (IJDDC), and Executive Editor of Elsevier Clinical Keys/India Point of Care in Diabetes & Endocrinology. His dedication to academics as well as serving people with Diabetes and Endocrinal disease for the past 20 years fetched him as the most inspiring Diabetologist & Endocrinologist of India, awarded by the Ex-president of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee on the eve of doctor’s day, June 30, 2020. He has published over 100 papers in high-impact international journals and presented over 2000 lectures around the world. His two papers on COVID-19 are currently among the top 10 highest-cited papers in the world.
