Barrett Levesque joined Stanford Health Policy in July 2008 as a trainee with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's Fellowship in Health Care Research and Policy. He concurrently completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Stanford. He is interested in using methods from health services research to study the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. He has conducted research on varied topics including HIV testing technologies, the cost-effectiveness of diagnostic strategies in Crohn's disease, and long-term outcomes of capsule endoscopy in patients with anemia. He received a BS in Neuroscience from Brown University, an MD from New York Medical College, and a M.S. in Health Services Research at Stanford. He completed an Advanced Fellowship in Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, where he was appointed Assistant Professor of Medicine. Dr. Levesque previously was Director of Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Scripps Clinic. He currently is a gastroenterologist and researcher in the Inflammatory Bowel DIsease center at UC-San Diego Heath System, and the University of California San Diego.
