Dr. Bennett Roth obtained his medical degree at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. After completing his internship at that institution, he completed a medical residency at the University of Pennsylvania.
Following two years in the Public Health Service, he completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at UCLA. He then joined the faculty here. He became chief of endoscopy and established the divisions first gastrointestinal motility unit. He remained on the faculty for four years subsequent to which he established a highly respected and successful private practice in the San Fernando Valley. However, he remained committed to academics and continued a strong affiliation with the GI training program at UCLA. During this period, he became deeply involved with the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and became its President in 1994.
Shortly thereafter, Dr. Roth rejoined the faculty of the UCLA Division of Digestive Diseases and became Chief of Clinical Affairs for the division, holding that position for 17 years. He now continues as chief of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy/Director, Medical Procedure Units and is director of Post-Graduate Physician Education for the division. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He has written numerous articles and book chapters, served on the editorial board of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and is a reviewer for numerous other scientific journals. He has been selected as one of the Best Doctors in America for 13 consecutive years.
