Bernadette Drummond graduated in New Zealand and completed graduate training in pediatric dentistry and dental research in the USA and England. She was Professor and Head of Paediatric Dentistry at the University of Otago in New Zealand and from September 2017 is Professor and Head of Paediatric Dentistry at the University of Leeds in the UK. She provides specialist clinical services for children and young adults with special needs and has an Honorary post with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Bernadette has published over 70 papers with a research focus related to improving children’s oral health-related quality of life and co-edited a book devoted to the recognition and management of dental enamel defects. Bernadette is a past president of the Australia and New Zealand Society of Paediatric Dentistry and has been involved in organizing several conferences for the Society. Bernadette has been an invited speaker at IAPD, ANZSPD and FDI meetings. Bernadette is also a Past President of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and the Australasian Academy of Paediatric Dentistry.
