Bijoy G Rajbanshi is an experienced heart surgeon and is the Principal Consultant Cardiac Surgeon and Head of the Department of Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery at Nepal Mediciti Hospital. He is also the President of the Cardiac Society of Nepal which is the largest organization of physicians that deal with heart disease in the country. He has done his MBBS from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in India, and an MS in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery from the National Institute of Cardio Vascular Disease, BSM Medical University, Bangladesh. He went on to do his Clinical Fellowship in Cardiac Surgery at the prestigious Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, USA. From there he moved to Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, USA to do an Advanced Clinical Fellowship in Adult Cardiac Surgery with a focus on Aortic and Endovascular Surgery.
Previously, he was working as a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center, and in his career, has done more than 5000 heart surgeries. He has been instrumental in establishing and performing complex heart surgeries such as surgery of the Aorta in Nepal and has done more than 30 surgeries in the country in circulatory arrest. He has been instrumental in conducting educational programs related to heart disease in the country and also in collaboration with various prestigious institutions such as Mayo Clinic, USA, and several prestigious institutes from the US, Europe, and South East Asia. He has served as the Vice President of the Asia Pacific Society of Cardiology and is also a Council Member of the Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons of Asia.
Bijoy G Rajbanshi has done multiple presentations on various aspects of heart surgery at National as well as International Conferences in the United States, Europe, and Asia. He has multiple publications about complex heart disease and surgery in various reputed international journals and has also written chapters in heart surgery textbooks. His special interest includes Adult Cardiac Surgery, Surgery for various Aortic diseases in adults, children, and also infants, Mitral Valve Repair, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, and Minimal Invasive Surgery.
