Dr. Francis has a unique training background. He trained in a combined internal medicine and psychiatry residency followed by completing an active duty service obligation with the United States Army. He served both domestically and abroad caring for patients with acute psychiatric symptoms. His military experience increased his interest in traumatic brain injury which ultimately led him to complete a neurocritical care fellowship training program at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Upon completing their fellowship, Dr. Francis worked with Dr. Phil Gorelick at the Hauenstein Neuroscience Center of Excellence in Grand Rapids to establish a neurocritical care presence in their health system.
In a move east to join family, Dr. Francis is excited to work with Chair, Dr. Dave Kaufman and Director, Dr. Anmar Razak to support the Michigan State University Vascular Neurology Team at Sparrow Hospital.
