Since 1994, Byron J Mitchell has devoted his practice to defending healthcare providers in medical malpractice actions in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. One of the most prolific medical malpractice trial attorneys in the Washington, D.C. area, between June 2014 and October 2016, Mr. Mitchell tried nineteen medical malpractice jury trials in Virginia and Maryland. He obtained defense verdicts in seventeen of them. The two outliers resulted in hung juries. In both instances, the jury was 6-1 for the defense; and the plaintiffs ultimately dismissed the cases rather than retry them.
