C. William Hanson III, MD is professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, Associate Director of Surgical Critical Care, Section Chief of Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Anesthesia and Medical Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unita”all at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Hanson is also medical director of Penn E-Lert within the University of Pennsylvania Health System and is affiliated with The Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine in Philadelphia. He received his MD from the University of Pennsylvania and performed his residency in internal medicine at Stanford University Hospital. Dr. Hanson served his residency and fellowship in anesthesia at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

His certifications are: American Board of Internal Medicine; Medical Command Physician: Pennsylvania Department of Health; American Board of Internal Medicine: Diplomate in Critical Care; American Board of Anesthesiology; and American Board of Anesthesiology: Certificate of Special Qualifications in Critical Care Medicine.
