Dr. Tapia is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. He participates in a multidisciplinary team at Texas Children’s Hospital to provide a quality, patient-centered medical home for over 600 children with medical complexity, particularly fragile NICU graduates. He also serves as an Associate Medical Director for the Texas Children’s Health Plan, with responsibility for oversight of care coordination and population health management.
Dr. Tapia is a content expert in pediatric medical homes, having served as on the AAP Community Access to Child Health program. He has also been involved in the creation of the Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative pilot project in Texas (The Texas Medical Home Improvement Project), serving as a board member. Dr. Tapia has a MPH in Health Services Research and training in a clinical postdoctoral academic general fellowship with emphasis on complex care.
