Dr. DiGiovanni is an internationally recognized foot and ankle surgeon. He earned his BA from Dartmouth College and his MD from the Brown University-Dartmouth Medical School Program. He completed his orthopedic residency at Brown University. Before joining Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. DiGiovanni served as Professor and Program Director of the Orthopaedic Residency at Brown University, where he was also Chief of the Foot and Ankle Service, Foot and Ankle Fellowship Program Director, and Founder of the Joe DiMaggio Sports Foot and Ankle Center.
Dr. DiGiovanni has been honored many times by his patients with the Patient Choice and Compassionate Doctor Awards. He has received the Excellence in Teaching Award from his residents and has received the Order of Merit from the Orthopedic Research and Education Foundation for his philanthropic support over the years. Dr. DiGiovanni has also been honored for many years as one of America’s Top Surgeons and Best Doctors.
Currently, Dr. DiGiovanni is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School, Vice Chair (Academic Affairs) for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at MGH, and Chief of the Foot & Ankle Services at both MGH and NWH. He recently helped cofound the MGH-NWH Foot/Ankle Research & Innovation Lab (FARIL) and is presently an active Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery as well as President-Elect of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.
