Dr. Christian Tomaszewski, M.S., M.B.A., is a fellow of both the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American College of Medical Toxicology and works as a Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at the University of California in San Diego. He completed an emergency medicine residency at East Carolina University in North Carolina in 1989 followed by a two-year fellowship in medical toxicology at Denver General Hospital and the University of Colorado. For 17 years he taught emergency medicine while serving as Medical Director of Hyperbaric Oxygen and Director of the Medical Toxicology Fellowship at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, North Carolina.
During this time, he helped organize and spoke at multiple international emergency medicine conferences including Italy, Argentina, Ecuador, United Arab Emirates, and Australia. He also helped direct several U.S. medical education projects in the Middle East. From 2000 to 2002 he represented Carolinas Medical Center as Deputy Director of Physician Education and Chief of Emergency Medicine at Zayed Military Hospital, Abu Dhabi. From 2006 to 2008, he was Medical Director of the Emergency Medicine Partnership between University Pittsburgh Medical Center and Hamad Medical Corporation, Doha, Qatar.
He also serves as an oral examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine and as a writer for the Hyperbaric and Underwater Medicine board exam. Since 2005, he has been the editor-in-chief of the official journal of the American College of Medical Toxicology, the Journal of Medical Toxicology. Most recently, Chris completed the Rady Executive MBA program at UCSD in 2013 and currently is the medical director of both emergency departments at UCSD.
