Dr. Christina Ng is a Consultant Medical Oncologist and Founder and President of Empowered, The Cancer Advocacy Society of Malaysia. Her focused areas of interest are in cancer genetics, personalized cancer care, and psycho-oncology. She is serving on the Core Program Committee for the Patients Support and Advocacy Group at the World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC). Dr. Ng was previously at University Malaya Medical Center, a position she had held since returning to Malaysia in 2003. She was also an Honorary Consultant to the Clinical Research Centre of the Ministry of Health Malaysia. She served on the Faculty of the Australia and Asia Pacific Clinical Oncology Research Development Workshop. In 2013, she was honored with the Great Women of Our Times Award by Women Weekly for her cancer advocacy work in underprivileged communities.
Dr Ng received her entire medical training in Australia at the University of Melbourne. She received her Australian Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology and served as a Consultant Medical Oncologist in Melbourne before taking up her position at University Malaya Medical Centre. She was a Medical Oncology Research Fellow at the Austin Research Institute as well as the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research in Melbourne.
Dr. Ng has a special interest in conducting clinical trials and has been the Principal Investigator for numerous trials for various cancers, including a national-level trial for Nasopharyngeal Cancer based on a Protocol she wrote at an Asia-Pacific research development workshop. In the course of her professional career, Dr. Ng has served on numerous Oncology Advisory Boards. She has also lectured and chaired at numerous local and international Oncology meetings and conferences. Her publications and lectures cover a broad spectrum of fields in cancer including breast, colorectal, lung, and kidney cancer.
