Dr. Einhorn is a clinical professor of medicine at UCSD, medical director of the Scripps Diabetes Institute, immediate-past president of the American College of Endocrinology, and president of Diabetes and Endocrine Associates in San Diego. He trained at Yale, Tufts, and the Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard where he was on faculty until 1984 when he came to Sharp to head its inpatient diabetes program.
He is past president of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists where he helped chair the Consensus Conferences on the national Diabetes Guidelines, the Insulin Resistance Syndrome, Pre-Diabetes, Inpatient Diabetes Management, Obesity Management, Glucose Monitoring Guidelines, and the just-published Comprehensive Diabetes Algorithm.
He also served as Editor of Endocrinology and Metabolism Clinics of North America and The Royal Society's Type 2 Diabetes. His research and publication interests include diabetes prevention and reversal, recognition and treatment of diabetic complications, new technologies and pharmaceuticals, combination therapies, and clinical decision making. He has lectured nationally and internationally on these topics.
