Dr. Daniel Ruiz Fernández (Ph.D., Eng) is a computer engineer and received his doctorate degree in computer science from the University of Alicante in 2003. He is a professor in the Department of Information Technology and Computing at the University of Alicante and teaches undergraduate classes. and computer science masters. His areas of interest are medical informatics, e-health, telemedicine, decision support systems, and clinical data analysis. He is also the academic coordinator of the degree in Health Information Technologies at the University of Alicante and co-founder of the medical informatics group (IBIS research group). He has led numerous national and regional projects focused on medical informatics and has published his work at national and international conferences and in JCR-indexed journals. He is a member of the Spanish Society of Health Informatics and the Spanish Society of Biomedical Engineering. He is also a senior member of the IEEE Society.
