Dr. Danielle Jarvis received a B.S. in Athletic Training and Exercise Science with a minor in Dance from Ithaca College, an M.S. in Kinesiology (with an emphasis in Dance) from California State University, Northridge, and a PhD in Biokinesiology (with an emphasis in Biomechanics) from the University of Southern California. She is a certified Athletic Trainer (National Athletic Trainers’ Association) and an active member of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science.
Dr. Jarvis is an Assistant Professor in the Kinesiology Department at California State University, Northridge where she teaches courses in biomechanics and athletic training. Her research interests are in the movement coordination during skilled athletic activities. Specifically, she studies joint demands during jumping movements and her current research focuses on lower extremity biomechanics during dance jumps. She also regularly choreographs and performs with the Los Angeles-based dance company LA Unbound.
