Dave D'alessio MD

David D’Alessio, MD begins his tenure as Chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition in the Department of Medicine, as well as the Associate Director of the DMPI.

A highly respected clinician and physician scientist, D’Alessio maintains an active research portfolio, exploring the regulation of insulin secretion and glucose tolerance in type 2 diabetes, with a focus on the influence of intestinal hormones on these processes. The overall goal of his work is to apply knowledge gained from research to the treatment of diabetes and obesity.

D’Alessio is a member of the Endocrine Society, American Diabetes Association and American Heart Association, and serves on the national council for the American Federation for Medical Research.
