Dr. Lee is a graduate of the National University of Singapore Medical School and completed his Orthopaedic specialist training locally. He completed a one-year Orthopaedic Sports Fellowship at the University of Louisville, U.S.A.; where he was involved in the surgical care of competitive athletes as well as NCAA College Football, Basketball, and Soccer teams. This was followed by a Lower Limb Surgery Fellowship at ATOS Klinik Heidelberg, Germany; a sports clinic that treats patients from all over Europe and the Middle East, focusing on knee reconstructions and joint preservation surgery.
Dr. Dave Lee has been exposed to cutting-edge surgical techniques used to return athletes to sports with the highest success in the least amount of time. He understands from his training that a team approach with sports physicians, physiotherapists, and athletic trainers is critical for recovery after a sports injury.
Dr. Lee runs a clinic in the sports centers twice a week to consult on sports injuries that may require surgery. He is trained in arthroscopic surgical reconstructions of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle. He also performs complex knee reconstructions, osteotomies, and cartilage resurfacing. He has a special interest in ACL reconstructions, meniscus and cartilage restoration as well as the patellofemoral joint injuries.
Dr. Lee has more than 20 publications in books and peer-reviewed journals, including surgical techniques, original research, reviews, and commentaries in sports journals such as the American Journal of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Journal and Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology and Arthroscopy. He is frequently invited to review various journals including Arthroscopy Journal.
