Dr. Sass is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at Jefferson Medical College and Jefferson University Hospitals. Dr. Sass received his MBChB degree with honors from the University of Cape Town Medical School, South Africa in 1992. After completing an 18-month research fellowship in endocrinology, he thereafter completed residency training and chief residency in Internal Medicine at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. He pursued 4-year fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology at the University of Pittsburgh. He is currently triple board certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology.

He formerly served as Assistant Professor of Medicine, Hepatology Fellowship Director and Associate GI Fellowship Director at the University of Pittsburgh (2004-07) and thereafter as Associate Professor of Medicine, Chief of Hepatology and Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at Drexel University College of Medicine/Hahnemann Hospital (2007-13). Dr. Sass is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterology Association and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. He is also President of the Pennsylvania Society of Gastroenterology and was a former board member of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Liver Foundation.
