David B. Reid, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist, author, Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at the James Madison University, and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Health Sciences at Blue Ridge Community College.
A graduate of Loyola College in Maryland and Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, Dr. Reid completed a postdoctoral fellowship in rehabilitation and neuro psychology at the University of Virginia in 1993. In 2005, Dr. Reid was appointed by Governor Mark Warner of Virginia, and reappointed in 2009 by Governor Timothy Kaine to serve on the Commonwealth Neurotrauma Initiative Trust Fund Advisory Board, a governor-appointed body that administers the funding of ground-breaking medical research and innovative community-based rehabilitation programs in the field of acquired neurotrauma. He served as chairman of the CNI for eight consecutive years.
Dr. Reid is the coauthor of Permanent Habit Control: Practitioner’s Guide to Using Hypnosis and Other Alternative Health Strategies (2010) and award winning author of Hypnosis for Behavioral Health (2012), a professional text honored by The Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis as the best book on hypnosis in 2013.
