Dr. David H. Chong is the Medical Director for all Critical Care Services at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital / Columbia University Medical Center. Board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine, he did all his post-graduate training at Columbia University. After spending some time at NYU-Bellevue as the director of the critical care program, he was recruited back to Columbia to be NYPH’s first Hospital Director of Critical Care Services. He also chairs the Inter-ICU Committee, and co-chairs the Regional GNYHA Critical Care Leadership Network.
He is passionate about Outstanding Patient Care, especially as it relates to Quality and Safety in and out of the ICU. His current focus has been on reducing line infections and ventilator associated pneumonias at NYPH. He also Co-chair the STOP Sepsis Collaborative, a 55 hospital ED/ICU QI project to improve care for the severe sepsis/septic shock patients in the NY Metro area.
