Dr. David Jolliffe is an early career researcher at Queen Mary, University of London, where he completed his Ph.D. on genetic risk factors for vitamin D deficiency and acute respiratory infections. He was recently awarded a Barts Charity Lectureship to conduct an n=6,200 phase 3 randomized controlled trial of high- vs. low-dose vitamin D supplementation to reduce the risk and severity of acute respiratory infections, including COVID-19, in UK adults with suboptimal vitamin D status.
He is also a co-investigator of the COVIDENCE UK longitudinal cohort study which was launched in response to the outbreak of COVID-19 disease, and aims to advance our understanding of risk factors for coronavirus disease; discover how quickly people recover from the disease and track any long-term complications; evaluate the impact of coronavirus on the physical, mental and economic wellbeing of the UK population, and establish a platform for future research on coronavirus.
