Dawn Lee Garzon, PhD, PNP-BC, CPNP-PC, PMHS, FAANP, is a Teaching Professor and Pediatric Nurse Practioner Emphasis Area Coordinator at the University of Missouri—St. Louis. Dr. Garzon received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of Miami, Florida, a Master’s degree in nursing from the University of Florida, and a PhD in nursing from the University of Missouri—St. Louis. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship in epidemiology and biostatistics in the Washington University School of Medicine and received a Master of Psychiatric Epidemiology during this fellowship. Dr. Garzon is dual board certified as a pediatric nurse practitioner and is also a certified pediatric primary care mental health specialist.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Dr. Garzon is an Associate Editor on the 6th edition of Pediatric Primary Care: A Handbook for Nurse Practitioners. She has published and presented nationally on topics related to pediatric primary care, acute and chronic health management, injury prevention, and pediatric mental health. Dr. Garzon has held national leadership positions in a number of nursing organizations. In addition, she currently maintains clinical expertise through practice in pediatric urgent care.
