Derek W. Delmonte MD

Derek DelMonte, MD, is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of corneal disease and anterior segment pathology of the eye. His research interests include new therapies for cornea ectasia and infectious keratitis as well as improving peri-operative medications for ophthalmic surgery. Dr. DelMonte’s academic interests lie not only in clinical research, but also in medical and surgical education and educational research. He is actively involved in the development and evaluation of new teaching strategies for resident and medical student education, especially focusing on the optimal way to teach basic and advanced ophthalmic surgical techniques. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the Cornea Society, and the International Society of Refractive Surgery.
