Dimitri Christoforidis completed his medical studies in Lausanne before specializing in visceral surgery at the CHUV, Sion, and Minneapolis (University of Minnesota). He won his title of Swiss specialist in surgery in 2005, the European EBSQ title in coloproctology in 2009, and the title of Swiss specialist in visceral surgery in 2011. He joined the Lugano Regional Hospital as an associate doctor in 2011, then as an assistant doctor. (vice-primario) since 2014. Alongside his clinical activities, the doctor is heavily involved in the development and critical analysis of minimally invasive surgery in the colorectal field and in particular has developed a new technique of transrectal colectomy. He serves as the MHS (Highly Specialized Medicine) referent of the Ticino public hospitals (EOC) for rectal cancer surgery and also functions as the referent for the ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) protocol, which offers a multimodal approach to reduce complications. postoperative.
