Eliana Amaral MD, PhD

Dr. Eliana Amaral is a tenured Full-Professor in Obstetrics at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Sao Paulo, Brazil, who has served as Co-Director of the Brazil-FAIMER Regional Institute since its inception in 2007. She is a 2003 FAIMER Institute Fellow and a 2014-2015 fellow of the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Program at Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Dr. Amaral’s areas of interest for research, papers and book chapters published, projects, and conferences are issues of quality of Obstetrics care, maternal morbidity-mortality, infectious diseases in Obstetrics, education for health professionals, faculty development, and affairs, and academic administration. Her current positions include Head of the UNICAMP Obstetrics & Gynecology Department; member of the Brazilian Board on Obstetrics & Gynecology; advisor for the Reproductive Health Division of the World Health Organization (Geneva), Ministry of Health and Education (Brazil), and the State of Sao Paulo Secretariat of Health.
