Frans H.j. Claas PhD

Leiden University Medical Center, department of Immunohaematology and Blood Transfusion, Leiden, The Netherlands Frans Claas is a highly esteemed professor at the Leiden University Medical Center, where the important foundations Eurotransplant and Europdonor started.

He is director of the Eurotransplant Reference Laboratory. Frans is fascinated by the patient-oriented research leading to successful clinical implementation of new findings. He strongly believes that this success only can be achieved by extensive international collaboration. Frans holds, and has held, various managerial positions, including numerous chairman positions of several boards, amongst others, Europdonor, Eurotransplant, Dutch Transplantation Foundation, Eurocord, EFI (the European Federation for Immunogenetics) and ASHI (the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics).
