Fred A. Lado, MD, PhD is Professor of Neurology at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra-Northwell and the Director of the Epilepsy Division for the Central and Eastern Regions of Northwell Health. He received his undergraduate medical education at New York University and his postgraduate medical education at New York Presbyterian-Cornell (neurology) and Montefiore Medical Center, Einstein College of Medicine (clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy).
His clinical practice is focused on adults with drug-resistant epilepsy. He is interested in the treatment of medically refractory epilepsy and in the use of non-invasive testing to localize the brain regions generating seizures. He has a large outpatient practice and is also actively caring for inpatients in the epilepsy monitoring unit and interpreting EEG, stereo-EEG, and electrocardiography.
Dr. Lado is a national leader in epilepsy and has long service to the American Epilepsy Society, currently as an at-large member of the AES board, and recently as Chair of the Council on Education. In addition, he also serves as an officer for the National Association of Epilepsy Centers and vice-chair of the Physician Advisory Board of the Epilepsy Foundation of Metropolitan New York. Dr. Lado has been honored to receive service awards from the Epilepsy Foundations of Long Island and Metropolitan New York. Dr. Lado is the author or co-author of numerous papers and book chapters, and he has lectured nationally and internationally on the treatment of epilepsy.
