Dr. Greg Tiao is a Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics and is the Division Director for the Division of Pediatric and Thoracic Surgery at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical. He is the Surgical Director of Liver Transplantation at Cincinnati Children’s. Dr. Tiao has been a faculty member since 2002. He was a general surgery resident at the University of Cincinnati. He completed his two-year residency in pediatric surgery at Los Angeles Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles, California. He returned to complete a two-year transplant fellowship at the University of Cincinnati in which was completed in 2002. Dr. Tiao is currently the primary investigator with Children’s Oncology Group (COG) in the development of the next hepatoblastoma clinical trial. He continues to develop collaborative international trials encompassing patients in SIOPEL, JPLT, and COG. He is a member and on the committee of the CHiLDREN’s Network. Member of the steering committee for PLUTO-Pediatric Liver Unresectable Tumor Observatory.

His other interests include neonatal and thoracic diseases, kidney disease, liver diseases, small bowel, and pediatric surgical oncology. His research laboratory at CCHMC is actively investigating biliary atresia. The lab has been funded by the NIH and has RO1 and RO3 funding. The major goal of our research program is to establish a mechanistic basis by which viruses induce biliary injury so that novel therapeutic strategies can be developed to prevent human biliary atresia.
