Harriet W. Hopf, MD is Professor and Vice Chair for Faculty Development in the Department of Anesthesiology, Adjunct Professor of Bioengineering, and Senior Special Assistant in the Office of Faculty at the University of Utah. After receiving her BA from Yale and her MD from Dartmouth Medical School, Dr. Hopf completed surgical internship at the University of Minnesota and anesthesia residency and research fellowship at UCSF. She was Professor of Anesthesiology and Surgery at UCSF before moving to the University of Utah in 2006. Her research focuses on preventing surgical site infections, improving research training in anesthesiology, and developing promotion and tenure policies that align with institutional missions and values. She was funded by the NIH for 20 years and has more than 90 peer-reviewed publications. She serves on the Editorial Board for Wound Repair and Regeneration and as an Associate Editor for Anesthesiology.
