Dr. Humayun “Hank” Chaudhry is a physician, medical educator, and the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) of the United States, which represents the nation’s state medical licensing boards and co-sponsors the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE). Dr. Chaudhry brings his background in public health, and keen interests in federal and state health policy, medical education, medical licensure, and discipline to his position to bring healthcare to greater heights. Within the FSMB, he is working to advance the interstate compact for medical licensure and policy recommendations related to artificial intelligence and patient safety.

From 2016 to 2018, Dr. Chaudhry served as Chair of the International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities (IAMRA), which has 118 member organizations from 49 nations. He was a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine from 1996-2006 and of the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine from 2006-2016.

Dr. Chaudhry is a graduate of New York University, the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Harvard University’s School of Public Health. He did a medical internship at St. Barnabas Hospital, New York, followed by an ACGME-accredited residency in Internal Medicine at Winthrop-University Hospital, New York, where he spent an additional year as Chief Medical Resident. In 2013, he became a Master of the American College of Physicians. He is a co-author of Fundamentals of Clinical Medicine, 4th edition, and of Medical Licensing and Discipline in America. In 2016, Dr. Chaudhry was recognized by Modern Healthcare magazine as one of the 50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders in America.
