Professor Ian Trail is the senior full time consultant in hand and upper limb surgery at Wrightington Hospital near Wigan and a part-time consultant at Pendlebury Children's Hospital in Manchester. He has been honoured to be elected onto numerous prestigious boards and committees due to his specialist knowledge. Previously he has served as Treasurer of the British Orthopaedic Association and was President of the British Society of Surgery of the Hand for 2012. Professor Trail was appointed Honorary Senior Lecturer University of Manchester in 2009 and also privileged in being able to share his extensive experience with other keen young surgeons in his role as Honorary Clinical Professor at Edge Hill University. His passion for his area of expertise is apparent from the substantial amount of research he has instigated and the widely utilised inventions he has designed.
